The Office for Children as a state agency is required by Exec Order 227 (1983) to appoint an affirmative action officer and to establish an affirmative action program to ensure equal opportunity in all areas of employment. Program is subject to review and oversight of the Executive Office of Human Services affirmative action officer and the State Office of Affirmative Action (SOAA). In order to comply with SOAA requirements, the Office for Children submits to SOAA quarterly and annual statistical reports on hiring and other employment actions. Series consisting of weekly reports generated by the statewide Personnel Management Information System (PMIS), used by agencies to track personnel actions, is created by the office's affirmative action unit to compile SOAA reports (Affirmative action unit reports to State Office of Affirmative Action ((M-Ar)N060)).
